Who says pretty pink and lavender can't be edgy too? Michael Young and his wife, graphic artist Katrin Olina Petursdottir, that's who! They are the team who were commissioned by plastic surgeon Dr. Jorgos Foukis to vamp up his medical spa in Florence, Italy. Foukis's spa, aptly named SKIN, is in the central part of Florence, called Borgo San Jocopo, which is an area already famous for a hospital built in 1050, for the early Romans.
This is the stylish entry to SKIN. Look at that great door knob.
The surgical rooms and massage areas really glow. I like the contrast of this modern interior with the historic building's old, stone exterior.
To me, this has a futuristic Moroccan look. The black fretwork gives it the graphic punch this space needs, to keep it from looking too Hello, Kitty. (images courtesy of The Cool Hunter)
