Moan..... Another Mona Lisa? NOT EXACTLY....

The image above looks like the Mona Lisa portrait by DaVinci that we ALL KNOW, right? Think again! Look closer. See all those squares? Well, that's because this Mona is done entirely out of burnt toast. Yes, that's right. 1,426 pieces of burnt toast were used to replicate the famous painting. Who thinks to do that? Besides food artist Tak/dhiko Okawa above, there are lots of other "artists" who have their own version of this classic. Which one's your favourite?

Artist Phil Hansen used burger grease from 14 hamburgers

A somewhat bloated Mona by Colombian painter Fernando Botero

Mona Leia by Jim Hance

And both my son's personal favourite, the Mona Lisa with Lego by Marco Pece

This piece was created by employees of Takashimaya dept store in Japan, which was made entirely of recycled train tickets (over 320,000) (shown close up on the right)

Artist Katy Webster, painted the Mona Lisa in a Wales shopping mall, which spans over 17.5 meters across & 240 total square meters (that's 57 feet wide and over 787 total square feet for us westerners). Look at the top picture, with the person running across it, to see the scale of how immense this is.
