I am a big fan of Starburst/Sunburst Mirrors. They are classic, and add a great graphic punch to a room. The above photographs are of various mirrors I've used in homes. The three pictured above are antique and are somewhat pricey. So imagine my excitement when I saw all the ones that are now being produced that are very affordable. It's all about the mix, isn't it. Old and new, antique and modern. It's what keeps a room exciting.

Need Ideas of how and where to hang? These mirrors will go anywhere. People have even started grouping them. Different styles, or many of the same mirror grouped together, it all makes a dramatic visual impact. I use an antique one in a half-bath in my house, and I also layer them, by leaning a starburst on top of other larger mirrors. They look great as a focal point or mixed in with other art and frames.
In this photograph above from an Atlanta home, they put a pair of matching mirrors on either side of the mantel and opt for a simple ceramic figurine as the center piece on the mantel instead. I like the symmetry that me matching mirrors provide, but the fact that the chairs are NOT the same is what makes it a successful design too.

This is a contemporary mirror, placed in what is an otherwise very traditional room. The juxtaposition works! This sunburst mirror makes this room glamorous. If there was an elaborate antique or old painting above this sofa, it might keep the room from looking fresh and young as it does here. The photographs below, from Belvedere at 1st Dibs, showcases an American 1970's Hand-made starburst mirror, which because of it's uniqueness, is also quite expensive. But I like how they showed how this slightly contemporary mirrored piece can work in three different settings. It can go modern, transitional, or traditional.
