I somewhat have a hard time wanting to wear plaid, since I went to a parochial school from age 5 to 18 and had to wear a plaid skirt for most of my youth. But there is something to be said for a beautiful red tartan, or a deep green tartan with blues. It feels old-world, traditional, and even holiday-ish. I like all of these examples here. None are cheesy, and all are elegant, cozy, and perfectly preppie.
