Knitter & Artist Kaffe Fassett
Kaffe Fassett is an American who now resides in London, and is a master of all things knitting. Fassett started off as a painter, but on a visit to a Scottish wool mill was so inspired by the landscape and the yarn, he bought some knitting needles and learned how to knit from a passenger on the train back to London.

What a story, right? I am totally intrigued by this artist. He is incredible with colours and patterns and making them all work together.

Although I am not by nature a hooked rug type of person, I love the complexity and sophistication in his hooked rugs. They are pieces of art suitable for framing!

He also produces lovely contemporary styled needlepoint pillows. I do needlepoint, so I know how many hours go into creating a pillow such as this. Not just the actual needlework, but to create an original design is also challenging!

Venetian Diamonds Throw and  Cushion by Fassett for Rowan Knitting Magazine 47
These knitted throws are lovely in that they take a traditional blanket that most of us might have inherited from our grandmothers, but with the use of colour and pattern, he makes it come alive with a modernity that transcends generations.

And if you want needlepoint on a large scale, look at this tapestry below. I totally dig the cityscape idea for a tapestry! If you can't live in France and open a window to this view, why not hang this on your wall so you can create your own view of Paris? And the shadowing details are perfect.
