Things I Like ...

The name Rhodochrosite comes from the Greek 'rhodon', meaning rose and 'chroma' meaning colour. First found in Romania in silver mines, Rhodochrosite is most often mined in Argentina. It is a manganese carbonate mineral, but because it is relatively soft, it is often hard to cut and therefore rarely found in faceted jewellery. Rhodochrosite represents "selfless love and compassion and imparts a positive attitude."

Broché means something is stitched with a raised design, taken from the French word brocher, which literally means to stitch, brocade.  In the 1920's, a great amount of fantastic silk shawls were produced. Some were called Piano Shawls, which were meant to drape over your grand piano, and some were meant to be worn. I think the workmanship is exquisite. I have seen one at a local Antique Mall for about 1 year now, and it keeps calling my name. It would look great worn in a variety of ways. It is so delicate and there is just not workmanship like it these days in many clothing.
